Canton Co-operative Bank honored by Independent Community Bankers of America for “Exceptional Service During COVID-19”
Canton, Mass. – The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) recently presented Canton Co-operative Bank with its 2020 National Community Bank Service award, calling the local independent community bank a “financial first responder and steward” that made “extraordinary efforts to help its communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“The ICBA asked members to ‘share your bank’s COVID-19 story’ and banks around the country responded,” Canton Co-operative Bank President & CEO Nick Maffeo said. “From what she had personally experienced here at Canton Co-operative, Operations Manager Mary Bocash was moved to write a heart-felt account the ICBA called ‘inspiring’ and chose as one of their national award winners.”
“In those first days of the pandemic, everyone was so scared. Employees and customers. No one knew what was happening,” Mary Bocash said. “It meant a lot to me to have the opportunity to see Nick Maffeo and VPs Kelly Howard and Laurie O’Leary recognized. Under unprecedented circumstances, they jumped into action and helped all employees here feel safe and protected so we can do what we love – serve our wonderful customers.”
“Customers tell us daily how amazing their banking experience has been – how safe and secure we’ve made them feel,” Mary Bocash said. “This entire bank has shown up every single day. I tell everyone my bank is awesome. I love working at Canton Co-operative.”
Canton Co-operative has been Canton’s hometown bank since 1891 and is rated “5-Star for Strength & Stability” as “one of the strongest banks in the country,” according to bank-rating service BauerFinancial of Coral Gables, Florida.
