Canton, Mass. – Dorothy (Dottie) Gilson retired from Canton Co-operative Bank on June 10, 2016 after a 20-year career with the Bank.
According to Canton Co-operative Bank President & CEO Nick Maffeo, “Dottie Gilson had wanted to retire for a while now. But she insisted on waiting until we’d found the ‘perfect’ person, someone she could personally train to take over her job. Dottie did not want to leave the Bank or our lending customers in the lurch. I think that says everything about her character. Dottie Gilson has been a valued part of the Canton Co-operative Bank team for 20 years and she will be very much missed.”
“I started at Canton Co-operative Bank in 1996 as a Teller,” Dottie Gilson said. “Two years later I became a Loan Servicer and I have been in the Bank’s Loan Department ever since.”
When asked what she liked most about her years at Canton Co-operative Bank, Dottie Gilson said, “Working at a genuinely nice local Bank with so many great customers, so many great colleagues and three wonderful Bank Presidents – Alan Holbrook, Deborah (Debby) Kreusch and Nick Maffeo.”
Dottie Gilson is a graduate of Boston State College and she was associated with BayBank and Norfolk County Trust before joining Canton Co-operative Bank. She lives in Canton, Mass., with her husband, Richard. In retirement, she plans to spend more time with her grandchildren and take enrichment classes.
Celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2016, Canton Co-operative Bank has been Canton’s neighborhood bank since 1891 and is rated “5-Star for Strength & Stability” as “one of the strongest banks in the country,” according to bank-rating service BauerFinancial of Coral Gables, Florida.
