March 7th is the Social Security Administration’s
National “Slam The Scam” Day.
Here are the four basic signs of a scam …
Like every banker and law enforcement agency, the Social Security Administration wants to help people avoid being scammed. March 7th is their National “Slam The Scam” Day when they provide tools to help you “recognize Social Security-related scams and stop scammers from stealing your money and personal information.”
1> Scammers pretend to be from a familiar organization or agency
2> Scammers mention a problem or a prize -and- ask for personal information
3> Scammers pressure you to act immediately -or- threaten you
4> Scammers tell you to pay using methods like gift cards or wire transfers
The Social Security Administration urges you to share this information with family and friends so you can ignore scammers, protect yourself and your friends and Slam The Scam! Canton Co-operative is also happy to help you. Come see us or call 781-828-8811 x5.
