More than 100 people stopped by the Canton Co-operative Bank side parking lot on Saturday, June 11th to take part in our first-ever free Community Shred Day.
And from the feedback we had – which was all so positive! – we can see that holding a free Community Shred Day might be something Canton Co-operative should do more often.
According to Sharlene Malcolm, Director of Retail & Business Development (and a member of the Bank’s 125th Anniversary Committee), “It was definitely a big success! The comment I heard most from the people who came to Shred Day was ‘This is great! How soon are you going to do it again?’”
“We saved them hours of feeding documents through a personal shredder and people were very appreciative of that,” added Assistant Treasurer & 125th Anniversary Committee Member Melinda McLaughlin. “I asked one gentleman I didn’t recognize if he was a customer of the Bank. He said, ‘Not yet!’”
Bela Vasconcelos – AVP & Director of Residential Lending and the 3rd member of the Bank’s 125th Anniversary Committee – said, “We love our customers and the Canton community so much. So it was very good to see that people regard Canton Co-operative as a ‘trusted institution’, helping them protect their privacy and getting their documents safely destroyed.”
Shred Day participants were welcome to free 125th Anniversary gifts and cupcakes. And the outpouring of non-perishable donations for the Canton Food Pantry was amazing and impressive. A big “Thank you!” to everyone who contributed! (Many people also offered cash donations which we were not able to accept. But the gesture was very much appreciated!)
We are considering having a free Community Shred Day as an annual event. Watch the local papers for more information. Or call us at 781-828-8811 x 5.
